On September 27, 1995, in the pavilion #19 of the National Exhibition Centre took place establishing conference where were set up Art galleries Association of Ukraine.

The founders of the Association were 35 galleries , artistic centres and creative unions. Among them Contemporary art centre "Soviart", cultural centres "Svit-L", "Slavutych", galleries "Gonchari", "Pleyada", "Blank-ART", "Dakh", "Azhio", "ART-Inform", "L&L", "RA", Kyiv Mogyla academy (all from Kyiv), "Mariupol-87" (Mariupol), "Plastart" (Chernigiv), "Obriy" (Khust), "Volodymyr" (Sevastopol), "Smalta" (Kharkiv), "Munkachi" (Mukacheve) and other nonstate artistic organizations from different regions of Ukraine, who unites in Association for solution of creative and professional tasks.

Establishment of the Art galleries Association designated a new stage of the art market's development in Ukraine. It's an attempt to unite separate creative organizations, artistic centres and galleries with the purpose of the art-market's structurizing, establishing of the civilized forms of competition in relationship with the artists, art critics, managers, sponsors.

Object of the Association:

• assist to development of the art-market in Ukraine
• galleries activitie support, artistic centres, artists, art critics, managers, state organizations of culture in terms of market economy.
• social defence of creative workers
• creation of organizing possibilities for development of the art process in Ukraine

For 12 years were realized:

• 7 International Art festivals in Kyiv
• 2 Festival of conceptual projects Initiative "Project", 2001, 2002
• Festival "Cultural heroes"
• Exhibitions of Ukrainian artists in Denmark, UAE, Germany, Russia
• Published up to 20 catalogues, 6 of them are the most scaled in Ukraine
• Since 1998 have been working galleries of the Contemporary art centre "Soviart" in 11 Kostyolna str. and then Andriyivski uzviz, 22-a
• 1998-2000 published catalogue and realized the biggest in the history of Ukraine project of 10 exhibitions "Art of Ukraine of the XX century"
• Published first in Ukraine CD of the contemporary artists
• 1999-2005 realized annual Art-rating
• From 1999 publication of the journal "Gallery" once per quartal, "Soviart" Publishing House
• 1999-2005 - program of the Contemporary art museum's creation in Ukraine
• From 1999 - annually National projects competition
• 2002 - establishing of the Association's Art-club, opening of the Internet site
• 2003 - establishing of the first "Soviart" contemporary art museum in Ukraine
• 2004 - creating of the Artschool jointly with the Academy of fine art and architecture. Artmanagement program
• 2004-2005 - "The Artists of Pridniprovya" project;
• 2005 - producing of M.Babak' project in the 51 Venice biennial;
• 2006 – The 1st "KievFotoCom" International Photo Festival;
• 2007 – The 2nd "KievFotoCom" International Photo Festival;
• 2006, 2007 – artmanagement courses of artschool;
• 2008 – The 3rd "KievFotoCom" International Photo Festival;
  - The School of experts of the contemporary art is created;
  - Two exhibitions of the megaproject "The Communication 21" - "Nothing personal" and "The Soap" have been hold;
  - The Association of the Land-art of Ukraine is created.
